Please join us June 7th at 1pm and 3pm for “Hold my mail – please! Monticello, Thomas Jefferson, and Gideon Granger.”
Registration is Full
Thomas Jefferson and Gideon Granger were political allies before falling out in 1814. Jefferson relied on Granger as “a well-informed friend” who provided important political information during Jefferson’s presidency and who also offered practical assistance, like holding his mail when Jefferson traveled between Monticello and Washington, D. C. Please join Emilie Johnson, Curator of Arts and History at the Thomas Jefferson Foundation at Monticello, for a program that highlights new installations at Monticello on the Declaration of Independence and in the historic house, establishing a background to explore Jefferson’s relationship with his well-informed friend.
