Laura Free, Associate Professor and Chair, Department of History, Hobart & William Smith Colleges, and author of “Suffrage Reconstructed: Gender, Race and Voting Rights in the Civil War Era,” will speak on Stanton. Free will describe a time when “male” became synonymous with citizenship in the 14th Amendment, and Stanton and Anthony made a tactical shift in their crusade for suffrage, with divisive, long-lasting effects.

Hosted by the Granger Homestead & Carriage Museum.

Co-sponsored by the 1816 Farmington Quaker Meetinghouse.
